To kick off Fourth of July festivities, there may not have been a better place to celebrate than Freedom Fest, hosted by Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Mayport at Naval Station Mayport. Held at the Sea Otter Pavilion, the annual event welcomed military families, veterans, Department of Defense personnel, and their guests for an evening packed with live music, local vendors, family-friendly attractions, and a spectacular fireworks display over the St. Johns River.
Headlined by country outfit LANCO and pop-rock favorites Hot Chelle Rae, this year’s festival offered something for every generation.
Where the Good Times Roll

Opening the evening, LANCO delivered a set that felt right at home on Florida’s First Coast. Their mix of country storytelling and arena-sized choruses created an easygoing atmosphere that encouraged fans to sing along from the very first song. The band’s chemistry on stage translated effortlessly to the crowd, setting the tone for the rest of the evening.
The performance comes as LANCO continues its We’re Gonna Make It Tour, bringing the group’s latest music to audiences across the country throughout 2026. Their stop at Freedom Fest served as another reminder that the band remains one of country music’s strongest live acts, balancing heartfelt moments with infectious energy.
Tonight Tonight, Jacksonville

As soon as Hot Chelle Rae stepped on stage, the festival shifted into full celebration. The Nashville quartet filled the waterfront with the songs that defined a generation, performing fan favorites including “Tonight Tonight,” “I Like It Like That,” and “Honestly.” Every chorus echoed back from the audience as longtime fans and first-time listeners turned the concert into one massive singalong.
Hot Chelle Rae continues to perform throughout 2026 with appearances on this year’s Warped Tour and additional live dates across North America, giving fans plenty of opportunities to catch the band after their stop in Jacksonville.
Fireworks Over Mayport
While the music brought the crowd together, Freedom Fest offered much more than its headlining performances. Families explored activity zones, enjoyed local food vendors, and spent the evening along the waterfront as anticipation built for the night’s finale.
With live music, waterfront views, and a memorable fireworks show, Freedom Fest once again proved why it has become one of Northeast Florida’s signature Fourth of July traditions.
